How old is to old to become a MMA fighter? What about how old is too old to become a professional boxer?

I think this really depends on two things. What kind of shape you have been keeping yourself in for the past several years and your age in relation to that. A person that has been physically active and working out would be in a better position to start at a little later age I think. The other thing is what kind of training and experience you have now if any.
There have been some amateur and pro fighters that started their careers later like in their mid to late twenties in boxing. I think you could also find some MMA fighters also that would fit that but they usually have some kind of background in martial arts to start with. Two things start to happen as you get older that work against this. First your body is not as resilient and aches, pains, little injuries from training, and the wear and tear of it really gets harder to take and heal from as you get older. Secondly it is hard to accumulate enough experience so that you can eventually make it to the higher levels because you are literally starting out with little or none at a later age. Your body starts breaking down sometimes before you reach that level or accumulate the needed experience to fight at a high level. I mention these two things because they are huge factors in all this as I see it.
At the same time I think it is important for people to have dreams and to pursue them if they can and it does not kill them or ruin any future they will have afterwords. Give this all some thought and I would try boxing or kickboxing first and see how things went with that. MMA encompasses so much more and you might find it is possible in kick-boxing or boxing but not MMA because of the wider array of skills and abilities that is needed.
Hey man whats up?
I ‘m 44 yrs old / young it depends on how you look at it. I compete in amateur MMA tournaments, in fact im training for a fight right now and all I have to tell you is that age is really just a number. if you train hard and wish to compete make that your goal…most of my fights are against younger guys and whats keep me going is i’m hanging in there with them and when all is said and done, i just matched their skill at the same weight class. so to answer your question… how old do feel inside? good luck.
IT’S A MENTAL AND PHYSICAL THING – IF YOUR BODY AND MIND ARE UP THE CHALLENGE THEN GO FOR IT – WITH RANDY COUTURE HE CONTINUALLY TRAINS FIGHTERS AND IS IN THE GYM PROBABLY EVERY DAY SO HE HAS THE MIND SET OF A FIGHTER WHO DOES NOT ALLOW THOSE THINGS TO ENTER HIS MIND – A YOUNG, HUNGRY MINDSET, HE LOVES TO COMPETE, WIN AND PUT ON GOOD FIGHTS. I THINK HE DOES IT TO CHALLENGE HIMSELF AND COULD CARE LESS WHAT PEOPLE THINK OF HIS AGE OR ABILITIES BECAUSE HE KNOWS WHAT HE CAN ACCOMPLISH. GEORGE FOREMAN, YEARS BACK CAME OUT OF RETIREMENT AND WON THE HEAVYWEIGHT BELT, HE STEPPED AWAY FROM THE GAME FOR LIKE 10 YEARS AND A LOT OF PEOPLE WROTE HIM OFF BUT HE STILL HAD THE TOOLS AND DEDICATION TO GET IT DONE. DON’T LET PEOPLE WRITE YOUR STORY FOR YOU, WRITE IT YOURSELF
It depends on you; Randy Couture is still going strong at 45. And it depends if your doctor clears you to fight. It’s all about you and your physical and mental fitness. If you really want to do it, no matter how old, go for it
